Gelish Soft Gel

What are Gelish Soft Gel Nails?

We have all heard of acrylic/ Gel nail enhancements and we have certainly all had Gel polish before, but have you ever tried soft gel nails? Gelish® Soft Gel tips utilise a unique flexi-fit soft gel formula with a reinforced structure, giving you the ultimate in full cover tip applications. Ease of application and ease of wear combine to give you an application that can take as little as 20 minutes for a full 3 weeks of wear. Add length to your regular nails like a press-on, and are as strong and long-lasting as nail enhancements, but without the powder or the harsh chemicals.

Soft Gel Nails are a healthier option, not only for the person getting them, but for the nail technician as well. Besides being a healthier option for nail lovers, Soft gel nails are easier and quick on application.

Your soft Gel Nails can last up to three weeks, depending on your natural nail growth. When you are ready to remove your extensions, all you have to do is use foil and acetone to soak them off until they’re ready to peel, like you would with gel polish removal.

Another plus? If you are using regular nail polish to paint your soft Gel Nails, you can remove and repaint them as much as you want without having to worry about getting them filled, like acrylics. You can maintain them at home by cutting and shaping them as they grow out.

GELISH® SOFT GEL TECH TIPS

Perfect Wear and Client Experience

  • Comfortable tip size:
When the natural nails size appears to be in between two tip sizes, we recommend to size up the tip and customise the lateral side lines. This will help to eliminate any possible discomfort or pressure to the natural nail plate. The tips have an exquisite shape for both look and strength including an elegant c-curve and therefore needs to be sized to perfectly fit the size of the natural nail.
  • For seamless long time wear:
Blending cuticle line of Tip with your Hand & Nail Harmony® 180/180 file, prior to application. Time increase is approximately 1 minutes per set
  • Removing excess Tip Adhesive:
In case of overflow of Tip Adhesive during application, it can be removed using your stir stick or Gelish® PolyGel® spatula after a 5 second flash cure in the Gelish® Touch LED Light. Flash cure and the carefully scrape off the excess Tip Adhesive.
  • Need of stronger tip adhesion:
Using your Gelish® Go File™ (electric file) lightly etch the contact area of the underside of the tip, before applying the Tip Primer to that same area. This with optimize the adhesion between the Gelish® Soft Gel Tip and the Tip Adhesive.
  • Staying clean, neat, and safe:
To make sure there is no inhibition layer in contact with the skin of the finger. Use a flattened cotton bud or roll a wipe around your spatula/orange wood stick, dampen it with Nail Surface Cleanse and light wipe over the line of the natural nails free edge on the underside of your tip extension.
  • Shortening and reshaping:
The strength and shape of these tips are created with precision for maximum strength and flawless shape. However in case of need to shortening or reshaping, this can be done preferably with your Go File™ (electric file) at maximum speed. Refine using a Hand & Nail Harmony® 180/180 file. Note that filing away the lateral extension will decrease the strength of the tip extension. Keep in mind to not alter this line at the stress point on the sides. Do NOT cut these tips! It may cause the tip break as well as disrupt its strength.
  • Tip is sensitive to acetone based products:
The strength and where of the Gelish® Soft Gel Tips will decrease and can be disrupted when in contact with acetone or similar products. A finish of Gelish® Soak Off Gel Polish on top of the tip will give extra protection against such chemicals. If more protection is needed the underside can be polished with Gelish Top it Off sealer gel. Keep in mind to keep away from the skin if you choose to use this application and to cleanse the underside with Nail Surface Cleanse after it is cured.

Application Alternatives

  • Maximise your application control with Tip Adhesive:
Brush on a thin layer of Tip Adhesive straight to the natural nail. Brush it on from the middle of the nail plate and out to the free edge, covering 50% of the nail. Then proceed to brush off a ledge of product to the underside of the tip’s cuticle line. Time increase is approximately 1-2 minutes per set
  • Easier control with Tip Adhesive at Cuticle Area:
Leave the natural nail at cuticle area free from product prior to applying the tip. Using the tip with the cushion of adhesive under the cuticle line, place it about 1/4 inch away from the cuticle at a 30 degree angle to the nail plate and pull/slide down halfway towards the free edge. Then lift and replace it down 1/16 inch from the cuticle and slide up to line up with the cuticle. Proceed to then tilt down the tip to adhere to the full contact area of the nail plate.
  • Perfect cuticle line:
Perfecting the cuticle line, requires a complete manicure of the cuticle. Make sure to push back the proximal nail fold, releasing it from the natural nail. Then remove any cuticle. Prep the natural nail. Customise tip if needed and then place the cuticle line of tip on the nail at the exact line of the nail almost underneath the line of the cuticle. Note- Do NOT force the tip underneath the proximal nail fold, since this may cause irritation, inflammation, and discomfort.
  • If needed, customise tip to refine fit:
Reshape the cuticle line of the tip to match the cuticle area shape, using your Hand & Nail harmony® 180/180 file. Adjust the lateral line of the tip to match the shape of the natural nail, using your Hand & Nail harmony® 180/180 file. Time increase is approximately 10 seconds per adjustment.
  • Diverse nail shapes:
When applying Gelish® Soft Gel Tips to diverse nail shapes, you need to alter the amount of Tip Adhesive used, as well as controlling the angle and placement of pressure when applying.
    Examples:
A Ski Jump Nail will need more adhesive in the center of the nail plate. Either place more Tip Adhesive in the tip, distributing it when applying and tilting the tip into position or pre apply a larger amount on the nail bed prior to applying the tip with a smaller amount on the tips cuticle line (underside). Remove all free edge from the natural nail prior to application.

A Hooked Nail needs a slightly larger amount under the cuticle line of the tip as well as at the free edge. Start with brushing on Tip Adhesive from the centre of the nail out to the free edge leaving a thicker layer at the free edge. Then apply a cushion of Tip Adhesive onto the underside of the cuticle line of the tip. When applying the tip tilt down carefully, making sure not to over tilt the tip downward, but stopping at the correct angle leaving a slightly thicker application of Tip Adhesive at the cuticle and the free edge.

When using the Gelish® Touch LED Light with these types of nails, hold the nail approximately 1 inch from touch circle and flash cure for at least 10 seconds to avoid the tip from popping away from the natural nail.

When selecting tip for Fan Nails, we usually need to size up the tip to cover the full sides of the natural nail. You then usually need to customise the Cuticle area of the tip make it fit the cuticle area of the nail perfectly. Remember to start with filing down all of the existing free edge of the natural nail as well as rounding off the sides down towards the nail groove.

Gelish® Touch LED Light

  • Save time with placement of Gelish® Touch LED light:
Place your Gelish® Touch LED Light base 4 inches(10cm) to the side of the area where your hold the nail when applying the tip. Bend the arm of the LED light, placing the touch circle (lower portion) about 2 inches from where you apply the tip. This enables you to streamline your application while saving time. Time saved will be approximately 2 minutes per set
  • Increase accuracy of tip application:
Place your Gelish® Touch LED Light base 4 inches (10cm) to the side of the area where your hold the nail when applying the tip. Bend the arm of the LED light, placing the touch circle (lower portion) about 2 inches (5 cm) from where you apply the tip. This helps you keep the tips position as well as the adhesives contact area in the correct place between applying it and curing it.
  • Efficiently turning the Touch Light On/Off while applying:
Start with turning the ON/Off switch on the lamp base to ON. Then start your application. While holding the tip in place, move the finger towards the Gelish® Touch LED light, let the distal knuckle of the clients finger touch the silver ring to turn on the light. After approximately 5-8 seconds, let the same area touch the silver ring again to turn off. Alternative place to touch the silver ring would be your on thumb that is holding down the tip. Time saved will be approximately 1 minutes per set
  • In case of heat sensitivity:
Even though heat spike with this system is fairly rare, in those rare occasions where you have to use an increased amount of Tip Adhesive to fill out the contact area; Start with placing the finger approximately 2 ó inches from the light source of your Gelish® Touch LED Light and move closer after a few seconds. In this case also increase your flash cure time, making sure to have 5 seconds at 1 inch distance

Removal of Gelish® Soft Gel Tips

  • Safe and efficient removal:
Start with cutting off the extensions. Turn the hand upside down to make sure you don’t cut into any skin tissue. Remove any polish or gel polish with your Gelish® Go File™, filing it all off down to the tip surface. Make a few lines in the tip surface by tilting your bit to enable it to create small lines in the surface. Soak in a bowl or finger cups using Artificial Nail remover or pure acetone. Leave in for 5 minutes. Lift up and quickly dry off any softened product with a paper towel. Put back in to soak for another 5 minutes. This time lift up, quickly dry off and using a Hand & Nail harmony® 180/180 file or Gelish® Go File™ with fine to medium sanding band, roll off the remaining product. Time to remove is approximately 15-20 minutes per set
